I’ve never been completely taken with the romance in this series, either- I enjoy Celaena’s happiness, when she feels it- but I think it’s quite wonderful that she doesn’t feel like the kind of protagonist who needs romance. It will never define her and she is just as strong without it as with. I like that she is her own person whether in a relationship or not. (Have you read The Assassin’s Blade? THAT was so, so good. Such good backstory, and learning about Sam… gosh that was very emotional.)
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7326722598461592892.post-53139049954387735392014-07-25T17:27:41.307+10:002014-07-25T17:27:41.307+10:00I love Coraline! I've been learning about the management side of the creative process myself lately, and here are some bits of advice that struck a chord with me:

-Don't worry about perfection (an elusive idea anyhow), just doing your craft consistently will result in better work over time.
-Inspiration doesn't have to be something that comes at scarcely at random, we can actually invite creativity in many ways including just being there on the job to receive it.
-Be kind to yourself and recognize even your small achievements. Be aware that you ARE making progress. Beating ourselves up only kills our creativity and gets in the way of progress.

Thank you for the thoughtful post and great advice! executeykhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04734631575567462701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7326722598461592892.post-38371529161287011712014-06-29T13:01:28.474+10:002014-06-29T13:01:28.474+10:00Thanks Dan! It's a brave move for 3D animation, which can often be seen as a "children-only" medium, which is certainly not the case. It's great to see filmmakers make the most of the medium and appeal to a broader age group.Astrid Scholtehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12324100085505134806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7326722598461592892.post-92163186826574996282014-06-27T08:13:56.641+10:002014-06-27T08:13:56.641+10:00It was a lovely to look at movie, but what made it...It was a lovely to look at movie, but what made it even better was by how emotional it could get without being afraid of over-stepping their boundaries. I've been looking for a series to fill the hole left by The Hunger Games for years and Divergent has mostly done the job. I hate it when a series you love ends, although it's better to end on a high note then to extend a series for the sake of it.

I'm currently reading Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, sequel to Throne of Glass, whilst it's nothing like the Divergent series it's a really enjoyable read. I also just finished The Last Girl by Michael Adams, it's the start of a YA dystopian series set in Sydney, which you may also enjoy.

Cheers,
AstridAstrid Scholtehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12324100085505134806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7326722598461592892.post-38425905324359898782013-10-27T14:56:20.339+11:002013-10-27T14:56:20.339+11:00Divergent rules all.
